The Osoyoos Quilters Guild meet on
the 1st. and 3rd. Tuesdays of each month at 9:00 a.m. from Sept.
to June. Meetings are held in the undercroft of St.
Christopher's Anglican Church at the corner of 87th.
and 72nd.
The Guild is a small
group of 36 members who enjoy sharing their skills ,
knowledge and learning new techniques.
New members ,
Snowbirds and visitors are always welcome.
Our annual fee for
membership is $25.00.
The main purpose of
the Guild is to encourage quilting and to make
contributions to the community. This past year the guild
has supplied bed quilts, children's quilts, wall hangings
and placemats to the Oliver/Osoyoos Safe House. The guild
also made and donated a queen size quilt to the Safe House
for their fund raising auction.
This January we submitted
a queen size quilt to "The Quilt" (a Breast
Cancer support project) to be auctioned for Cancer in
memory of our friend and fellow quilter Muriel Brown. The
fabrics used to make this quilt were Muriel's and were
generously donated to our guild by her family. Ten bed
quilts were recently donated to Country Squire in Osoyoos
for their residents. We now have a quilt in each of their
31 rooms.
In past years the Osoyoos
Guild has donated quilts to the Fire and Police
Departments, Penticton Hospice , Sagebrush Lodge, Country
Squire and Orchard Haven in Keremeos.
