Barbara
Haskell is a Registered Music Teacher, and offers private
instruction in voice, piano and music theory. She now makes
her home in Osoyoos, and offers private lessons in any
combination of piano, voice, and theory, with instruction
for Beginners to Advanced, Children to Adults. Barbara
completed her qualifications to teach voice through Trinity
College (London) in 1991, and her qualifications to teach
piano through Trinity College (London) in 1994.
In addition, Barbara
received her Bachelor Of Music degree at the University of
Calgary (Secondary School Music) in 1997 (piano), and
subsequently entered the new Master of Teaching Program in
Education. She completed the diploma requirements in 1999.
Since 1977, she has a built
vast experience in recitals, and shows, with piano and
singing She has participated in many productions that have
involved staging of opera scenes in England.
She enjoys taking part in
the B.C. Registered Music Teachers organization as a
full-time member, affording her students the opportunities
to perform publicly and experience the love of music,
knowledge of singing and connecting with the international
music community.
As a private teacher,
Barbara offers instruction one-to-one. Lesson programs can
be arranged on a personal basis, depending on the age and
the expectation of the student.
She encourages Royal
Conservatory Exams, however she recognizes each student’s
need to develop their own musical repertoire with other
forms of music.
Barbara provides
opportunities for her students to perform throughout
the school year, and many of her students have won medals
for examination marks in both piano and singing. She offers
many avenues for her students to learn and grow; master
classes and private lessons, a place to perform, the love of
music, knowledge about singing and playing well, beauty in
the singing voice, and attendance at an International Summer
School in England.
