“Rusty” is a story
written in poetic form specially for children.
The story begins when, “Farmer
Joe likes eggs, so he buys a lot more hens, In a crowded
yard Rusty tries to find his friends.” Rusty is worried that
he may not be able to take care of so many hens.
“He climbs high on to his fence
post to look for Penny , Peg and Sue, When in the corner of
the yard he hears Cock a doodle doo!” A younger Rooster has
joined the flock. What will Rusty do? Will he be able to
keep so many hens safe from Red, the very hungry fox?

Sheryl's stories are inspired by the animals on her hobby
farm in Keremeos, BC. As a child, Sheryl loved to listen to
mother goose. As a result all of her stories come to her as
rhymes. A mother of two girls, Sheryl reads to her children
daily. It is important to her that her stories are fun to
read because she knows they will be read over and over by
parents.
Sheryl's favorite part of book making
is the art work. Imagining what the characters look like and
bringing them to life completes the story.
“rusty” is Sheryl's first story in
print. Look for future titles, “Morning Musical” and “Sue's
Cherries” coming soon.
