Biography

Eleanore Dempster

Eleanore Dempster was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, and has lived all her adult life in British Columbia: Smith Inlet, Vancouver, Maple Ridge, Mission and, since June 2005, Osoyoos.

In 1983, Eleanore had an opportunity to begin painting under the tutelage of Aeron McBryde of Maple Ridge. With his guidance, she explored a variety of mediums and techniques but preferred working with oil paint and chalk pastel, in a realistic style.

Between 1993 and 2006, Eleanore's brushes and chalks remained in her paint box, while life's opportunities led her down a different road. In January 2006, the road brought her to the Osoyoos Painters & Potters Club (now Artists on Main), where she dipped into acrylic medium for the first time.

Since joining Artists on Main, Eleanore has continued her study of painting through various workshops and classes; by pursuing self-directed study at home; and by being open to new ideas and respectful feedback offered by her mentors in the club. Her style has evolved to become more representational than realistic; and she recently produced unique concept paintings that are geometrically abstract. Eleanore now works with oil and acrylic mediums.
